Product Description
Two hemlines instead of one, so nothing has to end at your widest point.
Layered occasion outfits usually go wrong for a fuller body in the same two places. The first is the jacket. A duster or kimono cut from a straight-size block puts its shoulder seam too far in, so the sleeve head drags down the arm and the front panels swing outward instead of hanging straight — which is why an open layer that looked elegant on the hanger ends up framing you at the shoulders and flaring at the hip. The second is the length. When the overlay and the dress finish at the same height, the two hems stack into one heavy horizontal band, and that band almost always lands mid-calf where the leg is at its widest. Add a waist seam drafted for a shorter torso and the whole thing sits wrong: the seam catches above your natural waist, the skirt starts flaring from the ribs, and the fabric stands away from the body instead of falling.
Aloria avoids all three by design. The duster has no closure of any kind — no buttons, no hooks, no tie — so the two front edges simply hang free and there is nothing that can strain or gape across the bust; the layer adapts to your width instead of fighting it. It is cut deliberately longer than the dress underneath, so you get two hemlines at different heights rather than one thick line, and the eye follows a long vertical down each side. Because the duster is sheer, that vertical costs you nothing in weight or warmth. And the dress underneath is a straight shift with no waist seam at all, so there is no seam that can land in the wrong place on your torso — it skims from shoulder to hem and lets the fabric do the shaping.
Why it works
- Open duster with no fastening: nothing to close means nothing to strain, gape or crease across the bust, whatever your width through the chest.
- Duster cut longer than the dress: two hems at different heights instead of one heavy band, so no single horizontal line lands at the widest point of the leg.
- Sheer layer rather than a solid jacket: you get the covered arm and the long vertical line without the weight, bulk or heat of a real layer.
- Straight shift underneath with no waist seam: there is no seam that has to find your natural waist, so nothing can sit too high or pull across the ribs.
- Three-quarter sleeves on the duster: the upper arm is covered and the sleeve hem ends past its fullest part, so it rests rather than grips.
- Purple and Brown: scalloped panel ending at the hip: the change of texture falls at hip level with a scalloped edge, so the transition sits below the waist rather than nipping in at it.
Fit note
Worth knowing before you choose: the three colourways are not the same dress. Blue is a printed shift — soft watercolour magnolia blossoms washed over the whole dress — under a plain powder-blue duster. Purple and Brown are built differently: a plain dress whose bodice is covered in tonal floral appliqué down to a scalloped edge at hip level, with a smooth plain skirt below it, under a matching duster with a softly curved high-low hem. Brown reads as a warm soft beige rather than a true brown. All three are cut generously and skim rather than fit, so your usual size is normally right; the duster is unlined and sheer and adds no bulk, so there is no need to size up for the layer. The dress hem sits just below the knee and the duster falls longer. Sizes M to 4XL.

Creating these pieces by hand — dresses, bags and jackets — has been my life's work since 1994. I've poured my heart and passion into every piece, year after year.
But what I'll treasure most are the moments we've shared: your visits to our boutique in Sandton, your warm greetings, watching you introduce your daughters to our collections, and the joy of running into familiar faces around Johannesburg. These are the memories that have made this journey so special. More than anything I've created, it's the wonderful women I've met along the way who have truly made it all worthwhile.
A new chapter begins. For the first time, I'm bringing our boutique online, making the pieces I've loved creating since 1994 available to women across South Africa.
I'm so excited to share this next step with you. Whether you've visited us in Sandton over the years or are discovering us for the first time, I hope our collections bring you as much joy as they've brought me. Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to helping you find pieces you'll love and treasure for years to come.

THE CUT CAN BE COPIED. THE CRAFTSMANSHIP CANNOT.
Mass production can imitate a silhouette, but it can never replace the soul of a garment.
Our secret ingredient is the human hand — every stitch is guided with care toward perfection.
We strictly limit every style to just 10 pieces.
Because anyone can produce a dress, but the feeling of true rarity can't be faked.
